“Write This Down”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
—Revelation 21:5-8

Write This Down
By Jennifer Kane

Write this down, for these words are steadfast and true,
A promise of hope, for life I renew.
I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last,
The future unfolding, the redemption of the past.

To the thirsty and restless, I am a faithful friend,
The wellspring eternal, where hearts find their end.
I quench every longing, I am the Spring of Life,
The balm that soothes the soul in the midst of strife.

Write this down: I am the Light that will never fade,
The dawn of a kingdom, where all tears are unmade.
But heed my words, for justice comes to call,
And every deed, every word, I will weigh them all.

The cowardly, the faithless, those who choose deceit,
Will find no home in the place where my glory meets.
Yet for the humble, the broken, the ones who seek my face,
I prepare a dwelling in my unending grace.

Cast off your burdens, come lay them at my feet,
In me, all things are made whole, complete.
Write this down, let your heart be stirred,
For I speak love, unshaken, in every word.

I am making all that is old now new,
I am the faithful One, forever true.
Write this down and know my return draws near,
A day of rejoicing, a day without fear.

Let the nations hear, let every tongue proclaim:
The Alpha and Omega is coming again!

Scripture: Revelation 21:5-8

In Revelation 21, we find one of the most profound moments in Scripture—a vision of eternity where Jesus proclaims, “I am making everything new!” This promise invites us into the hope of a redeemed creation and a relationship with the eternal God. Yet, Jesus’ words also carry a solemn warning, a call to examine our hearts and lives.

Jesus, as the Alpha and Omega, assures us of His sovereignty over all history. His promise to quench the thirst of those who long for righteousness echoes the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:6) and reminds us that eternal satisfaction is found in Him alone. The water of life is freely given, a gift of grace we could never earn.

Are you thirsty for something the world cannot satisfy? The invitation is clear—come to Jesus, the source of living water, and find rest, renewal, and eternal life.

To those who remain faithful and overcome the trials of this world, Jesus offers an inheritance that is beyond comprehension. He promises to be our God and welcomes us as His children, emphasizing an unbreakable bond of love and belonging.

What trials are you facing today? Remember, your perseverance is not in vain. As children of God, we are heirs to the new heaven and new earth, a place free from pain, sorrow, and death.

While the promises are glorious, Jesus’ words come with a warning. The list in verse 8—cowardice, unbelief, and other sins—represents lives defined by rebellion against God. These are not isolated failures but habitual patterns that reject God’s invitation.

This warning challenges us to examine our lives. Are there areas where fear, unbelief, or sin are taking hold? Jesus calls us to repentance, offering grace and the power to overcome.

Reflect on Jesus’ dual message of invitation and warning. Are you embracing the living water He offers? Are there sins you need to surrender to His transforming power?

Commit today to live as a victor in Christ, holding fast to His promises and walking in His grace.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your promise to make all things new. Help me to drink deeply from the living water and walk faithfully as Your child. Search my heart, reveal anything that separates me from You, and lead me to repentance. May my life reflect Your grace and truth, and may I hold fast to the hope of eternal life with You. Amen.
