This is a reflection poem from the message at church service I heard from earlier today. This year let’s me just do what I can.
“Do What You Can”
By Jennifer Kane
God empowers all we do
When we offer Him our all.
I have a desire to give my best,
And will trust Him to do the rest.
Being changed means I’m not the same—
A heart of stone transformed,
Replaced with something living, new.
Now, I can be different.
Blessed with a heart to obey His decrees,
He leads me gently by His Spirit,
Never forcing, but always guiding.
Rare are the souls who truly care,
When our preferences extend beyond ourselves
To the lives and hearts of others.
Be on guard—let your compassion
Lead to genuine action.
Strive to be one who truly cares,
Driven by love for others’ welfare,
Especially their souls.
Jesus went so far as to die
For those who were cursed,
Loving us to the cross and beyond the grave.
May I carry the spirit of doing what I can
As I walk these paths of life.
