May my cry come before you, Lord; give me understanding according to your word. May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. I long for your salvation, Lord, and your law gives me delight. Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me. I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.
—Psalms 119:169-176

Tau ת: Sought by God and His Word.
By Jennifer Kane
You seek me, Lord,
not from a distance,
not with indifference,
but with the steady pursuit of love.
Your Word finds me—
in the quiet, in the storm,
in the questions I cannot answer,
in the places I try to hide.
It searches me, refines me,
presses against my doubts,
gives shape to my wandering thoughts,
calls me back when I forget the way.
Your Word is not passive.
It tests me, stripping away what does not belong.
It strengthens me, whispering courage where fear once grew.
It rebukes me, firm but kind,
never to destroy, only to restore.
Your Word lifts me when I stumble,
teaches me when I do not understand,
wraps around me like a shield
when the weight of the world is too much to bear.
Even when I am lost,
even when I have strayed too far to see the path,
still, You come.
Still, You call my name.
Still, You find me.
Let my life be an answer to Your voice,
my heart a place where Your truth lives.
For You have always been near—
seeking, speaking, saving.

Scripture: Psalms 119:169-176
We often think of our pursuit of God—our prayers, our obedience, and our seeking after His will. But the truth is, before we ever sought Him, He sought us. Like a shepherd searching for a wandering sheep, God’s heart longs for His people.
In Psalm 119’s final verses, the psalmist acknowledges his deep need for God. He cries out for understanding (v. 169), deliverance (v. 170), and guidance (v. 171-172). Then, in verse 176, he confesses his own wandering, yet does not despair—because he knows that God is a seeking God.
Jesus affirms this in Luke 15:4-7, where He tells the parable of the lost sheep. God is not indifferent to our wandering; He actively seeks us. When we feel distant, lost, or struggling, we can take heart—God is already looking for us, calling us home.
Are there areas in your life where you have strayed from God’s guidance? Have you felt lost, as though you need His direction? How does it encourage you to know that God is already seeking you? Spend time in prayer today, not just seeking God, but also recognizing that He is seeking you. Let Him lead you back into His loving arms.

My Heavenly Father, I confess that I sometimes wander. Thank You for never giving up on me. Seek me when I stray, and guide me in Your truth. Help me to trust in Your unfailing love, knowing that I am never beyond Your reach. Thank you Jesus, in your name I pray. Amen.
