When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
— 2 Kings 6:15-17
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
— Isaiah 11:1-5
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.

Seen by God
By Jennifer Kane
I thank You, Lord, that You see me,
Not as the world sees—fleeting and faint—
But with eyes of love, unshaken and sure,
Through every moment, through every change.
In joy, You celebrate beside me,
In sorrow, You catch each silent tear.
Never distant, never absent,
You hold me close; You draw me near.
Your wisdom lights the path before me,
Your power steadies every stride.
Your presence wraps around my spirit,
A refuge where my soul abides.
Jesus, You walked in perfect knowing,
Unshaken by the storm or sea.
Teach me to move with holy boldness,
Held by the One who watches me.
Not reckless, but fearless, I follow,
Not striving, but resting in grace.
For I am seen, I am known, I am cherished—
Ever upheld in Your embrace.
Open my eyes, Lord, that I may see—
To walk by faith, to trust, to be free.

Scriptures: 2 Kings 6:15-17, Isaiah 11:1-5, and John 5:19-20
Have you ever felt alone, outnumbered, or unseen in your struggles? Sometimes, it can feel like the weight of the world is pressing in, and we wonder if God sees or cares. But the truth is, we are never out of His sight, never beyond His care. Not only does He see us, but He watches over us, surrounds us, and reveals His presence in ways we often don’t expect.
Elisha’s servant was overwhelmed with fear at the sight of an enemy army surrounding them. But Elisha, with unwavering confidence, prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened. When God answered, the young man saw that the hills were filled with angelic warriors—God had already provided protection.
How often do we, like Elisha’s servant, panic when faced with trouble because we only see with our earthly eyes? Yet, God is always at work in the unseen. If we could see the spiritual reality around us, we would realize that we are never alone. Even in our trials, God’s protection surrounds us, and His power is greater than any opposition we face.
In John 5:19-20, Jesus declares that He does only what He sees His Father doing. His perfect vision of the Father’s will gave Him confidence and direction. If Jesus, the Son of God, lived in such deep awareness of the Father’s presence, how much more should we trust that God is watching over us?
Our confidence doesn’t come from controlling every situation but from knowing that God sees, guides, and provides. Just as Jesus moved in step with the Father, we, too, can walk in faith, knowing we are under God’s watchful eye.
When we feel unseen, unheard, or uncertain, we can trust that God’s vision is greater than our own. He sees our pain, our struggles, and our victories. And more than that—He leads us with wisdom and justice, never leaving us to navigate life alone.
When we grasp that God sees us and watches over us, our fear fades, and our confidence grows. We no longer rely on what we see but on the One who sees all. Like Elisha, we can pray, “Open my eyes, Lord, so that I may see.”
God is not distant. He is near, guiding, protecting, and revealing His presence to those who trust Him. When life feels overwhelming, remember: those who are with you are more than those against you. You are seen. You are loved. And you are never alone.
Take a moment to pray and ask God to open your eyes to His presence. Where have you felt unseen or forgotten? Ask Him to remind you of His nearness and give you confidence in His watchful care.

Heavenly Father, I thank You that You see me. In every moment, whether in joy or struggle, I am never out of Your sight. You watch over me with love, wisdom, and power, guiding my steps and surrounding me with Your presence. Jesus, You moved with confidence, always aware of the Father’s presence. Help me to walk as You did, not reckless, but bold, knowing I am seen, known, and watched over. I trust You. I rest in You. Open my eyes, Lord, so that I may see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
