“Praise the Lord’s Work”

Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. They are established for ever and ever, enacted in faithfulness and uprightness. He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever— holy and awesome is his name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Praise the Lord’s Work
By Jennifer Kane

Almighty Maker of the skies,
Brings forth wonders our hearts can’t disguise.
Creation sings with joy and might,
Day and night declare His light.

Eternal King, forever true,
Faithful in all He says and do.
Grace flows freely from His throne,
Hope for every heart He’s known.

Infinite wisdom, deep and wide,
Just and gentle as our guide.
Kindness crowns His every deed,
Love supplies our every need.

Mountains bow and oceans praise,
Nations tremble, yet He stays.
Over all, His hand is strong,
Protecting us our whole lives long.

Quiet peace He gives the soul,
Redeems and makes the broken whole.
Salvation’s gift, so full and free,
Triumphs through eternity.

Unchanging One, forever near,
Voice of comfort, still and clear.
Wonders never cease to shine,
Xalting Him—our praise divine!

Yield your life and know His grace,
Zeal will rise as you seek His face.

Scriptures: Psalms 111:1-10

Before the psalmist even begins to describe God’s wonders, he exclaims: “Praise the Lord!” (Hallelujah). It’s as if his heart can’t wait another second — the glory of God’s works demands immediate praise. This psalm is a poetic acrostic, with each line beginning with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet — a reminder that from A to Z (or aleph to tav), God’s greatness fills the entire page of creation and salvation history.

The psalmist doesn’t just praise God privately or half-heartedly. His praise is full, joyful, and shared. True worship is both personal and public. It stirs others to look up and join in. Have you ever found yourself caught in awe — so overwhelmed by God’s goodness that you just had to tell someone?

Let our praise not be withheld or divided. Let it spill from our lips in the quiet moments and in the gathered assembly, testifying to God’s goodness with sincerity and zeal.

God’s works are not only powerful — they’re worth pondering. Creation, providence, redemption — all shine with His wisdom and glory. His handiwork invites us to study, not just to see, but to savor.

Consider how scientists like Kepler marveled at the heavens, or how artists seek beauty in God’s creation. Whether through a microscope or a melody, those who delight in His works find joy in discovering what God has made and done.

Do you take time to study His works — not only the grand miracles, but also the daily mercies and quiet kindnesses?

God doesn’t just do great things — He invites us to remember them. From manna in the wilderness to daily provision today, He feeds His people, not just physically but spiritually. He is a covenant-keeping God, mindful of His promises, even when we forget.

How many moments in your life can you recall where God came through — maybe not how you expected, but always right on time?

Remembering is an act of worship. When we remember what God has done, we proclaim His faithfulness to others.

God’s works reflect His character: true, just, faithful. His commands aren’t shifting sand — they’re sure and eternal. His redemption isn’t accidental — it’s intentional and lasting.

For Israel, this meant deliverance from Egypt. For us, it points to the cross — Jesus, our Redeemer, sent to rescue us from sin. The name of the Lord is holy and awesome. In every generation, that name has power.

Is your life grounded in the truth of God’s works and His Word? Are you building on the solid rock of His unchanging righteousness?

Worship is more than a song — it’s a way of life. Reverence leads to wisdom, and wisdom leads to deeper worship. Those who delight in the works of the Lord not only see them — they live in response to them.

Let Psalm 111 stir your heart to remember, reflect, and rejoice. Whether you’re in a small group or a large gathering, whether you’re at a sunrise or in a storm — take time to ponder the great works of the Lord. Then, praise Him with your whole heart.

Lord God, Your works are great, glorious, and everlasting. Thank You for the beauty of creation, the gift of redemption, and the truth of Your Word. Help me to praise You with my whole heart, to remember all You’ve done, and to delight in the wonder of who You are. Teach me to fear You rightly and live wisely, that I may bring You eternal praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
