John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
—Revelation 1:4-8

Every Eye Will See Him
By Jennifer Kane
When Jesus returns,
it won’t be a secret—
no hushed arrival in the shadows of night.
There will be no need to whisper,
“He is here,”
for the sky itself will shout His name.
At His first coming,
He walked unnoticed by emperors,
born in a stable, cradled in obscurity.
He healed in humble towns,
taught on hillsides,
died outside the city gates.
Rome never heard the thunder of His steps.
But the second time—
oh, the second time—
He will come with glory riding on the clouds,
splendor wrapped in majesty,
eyes like blazing fire,
a trumpet sound that shakes the heavens.
Every eye will see Him.
No nation untouched,
no people unaware.
Even those who pierced Him—
their eyes too will rise in shock,
recognition,
remorse.
And all the tribes of the earth will mourn.
Not because they missed a headline,
but because they missed the Lamb
when He came wearing thorns.
Now the King returns, crowned.
Even so.
Amen.

Scripture: Revelation 1:4-8
When Jesus came the first time, it was quiet. Humble. Born in a stable in Bethlehem, His arrival was noticed by few — shepherds, wise men, and faithful souls like Simeon and Anna. His ministry, though powerful, was largely confined to a small region of the Roman Empire. He made no headlines in Rome. He did not sit on an earthly throne. To many, He came and went in obscurity.
But His return will be anything but secret. It will be global. Visible. Unmistakable. Jesus will come as the triumphant King, the Ruler of all, the One with glory and dominion forever. The world that once overlooked Him will not overlook Him again.
John’s greeting in Revelation 1:4–6 prepares us for this awe-inspiring vision. The message comes from the Triune God — God the Father (“who is and who was and who is to come”), the Holy Spirit (“the seven Spirits before His throne”), and Jesus Christ, who is described as:
The faithful witness – He perfectly revealed God’s truth, even unto death.
The firstborn from the dead – The first to rise never to die again, guaranteeing resurrection for those in Him.
The ruler of the kings of the earth – His dominion is certain, even if not fully visible yet.
And yet, this mighty Jesus is also the One “who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.” The One who will come in clouds of glory is the same One who bore the cross out of love. He has made us royalty and priests — people with access to God and a holy calling.
Verse 7 reminds us: the return of Jesus is not a myth, a metaphor, or a mystery to be hidden. It is a divine promise: “Every eye will see Him.” The world may forget Him now, but it will not forget Him then. Those who pierced Him — both historically and spiritually — will witness His return. All will mourn, not necessarily out of love, but out of realization and regret.
Jesus’ second coming will be unmistakable. Will you be ready? Are you living as one washed and loved, as a king and priest for His glory? Let the certainty of His return stir your heart toward worship, repentance, and bold faith.

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and washing me clean with Your own blood. I praise You as my faithful witness, my risen Lord, and the coming King. Help me to live in the light of Your return, never ashamed, always ready. To You be glory and dominion forever. Amen.
