“Trust In His Ways”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
—Proverbs 3:5–8

Trust in His Ways
By Jennifer Kane

My ways are crooked, but His are straight,
My mind is clouded, yet His wisdom’s great.
In fear of evil, I’ve often cowered,
But true fear of God brings greater power.
Not trembling at darkness, nor dread of the night,
But reverent awe in His glorious light.

Health to my body, peace to my soul,
In trusting His plan, I’m made whole.
Let me surrender, and not lean on my mind,
In His perfect will, true freedom I find.
I’ll walk His path, let Him take control—
For He alone can heal and make me whole.

His ways bring peace, a calm to my strife,
For in His hands, He holds my life.
In all my steps, I’ll seek His grace,
To find His wisdom, to see His face.
Each trial I face, I’ll trust and not fear,
For with my Shepherd, I know He is near.

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–8

We like to believe we are wise. We analyze, plan, and try to make sense of our lives based on what we see and feel. But God’s Word gently confronts us: “Lean not on your own understanding.” Why? Because our vision is limited. We see only the moment, while God sees eternity. He knows the path ahead—and He calls us to trust Him, not just when the way is clear, but especially when it is not.

We want to make our own way, but our crooked paths can only be made straight when we let God lead.

Surrender is not weakness; it is wisdom. To submit to God is not to lose yourself—it’s to find your truest self in His hands. As you trust in Him, He promises not only to direct your path, but to bring healing to your soul and strength to your body.

To fear the Lord is not to dread Him, but to revere Him—standing in awe of His power, His presence, and His goodness. This holy reverence leads us to reject evil, embrace righteousness, and walk in peace.

This week, identify one area in your life where you are leaning on your own wisdom. Take time each day to surrender that area to God in prayer. Ask Him to guide your steps and make your path straight. Write it down—and revisit it often as a reminder to trust in His ways.

Father God, I confess that I often lean on my own understanding. I want control, but I need You. Help me trust You with my whole heart. Teach me to walk in reverence, to surrender my plans, and to find healing in Your ways. Make my path straight and give me peace as I follow You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
