You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
—Isaiah 26:3-4
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
—Psalm 4:8
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
—Philippians 4:6–7
…we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance… hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts…
—Romans 5:3–5

An Evening Prayer
By Jennifer Kane
In a room with shadows dancing,
Soft light’s glow, peace enhancing,
A blue light shines, cool and slow,
The scent of popcorn in gentle flow.
The sky outside, a tapestry bright,
Deep blues and purples merge with night,
Cloud covers the stars twinkling gleam,
The air is weighted low, in nature’s theme.
On a sofa, so snug, while I sit,
In quiet calm, my worries, they flit,
Eyes closed, heartbeat slowing down,
In divine presence, fears unbound.
With gratitude, my prayer starts,
Thanking God with open heart,
For love that comforts, guides, and stays,
In boundless grace, I find your ways.
Trials will come, shadows may fall,
Yet faith assures, He conquers them all,
It is through suffering, His strength I feel,
My burdens become lifted, wounds heal.
In His grace, I find sweetest rest,
Knowing pain transforms, I’ve been blessed,
Guided by His light, I take my stand,
Facing trials, His love commands.
With humble heart, for the kingdom come,
In power and glory, His will be done,
Evening stretched out, peace profound,
In His love, assurance is found.
In this stillness and serene retreat,
Prayer and soul in rhythm complete,
Gratitude and trust, so intricately deep,
In unwavering faith, I gently fall to sleep.
