The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty. Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.
—Psalms 93:1-5

Lord Who Made The Seas
By Jennifer Kane
The Lord reigns—clothed in majesty and girded with strength;
He established the world so it cannot be moved.
The oceans proclaim His glory, for they are but the work of His hands.
The heartbeat of the earth is His creation,
its vast breathing expanse but a whisper of His voice.
The thunder of the waters—ancient, unyielding—
is but an echo of His eternal power.
Waves rise like living walls, crowned with foam,
yet they bow at His command.
The deep holds mysteries beyond sight,
but none are hidden from the eyes of the Almighty.
The mountains in the deep, the valleys in darkness,
the life that blooms where no light shines—
all are fashioned by His wisdom.
He commands the tides with the moon’s pull,
and summons the storms with a word.
From the ocean’s deep water He calls forth life;
He gives breath to all creation.
The clouds and rain rise at His bidding;
the winds carry His decrees across the face of the earth.
The seas humble kings and topple mighty ships,
but they kneel before their Maker.
The Lord on high is mightier than the breakers of the sea—
mightier than the roaring waters, mightier than the waves of the deep.
Holiness adorns His dwelling forever;
glory surrounds His throne without end.
Let the oceans roar, let the waves clap their hands—
for the Lord God Almighty reigns!

Scripture: Psalms 93:1-5
In the height of summer, the ocean comes alive with a force that humbles us. Standing at the shore, we feel the crash of the waves reverberate through the ground. We see their endless motion, their surging power. The sea seems unstoppable.
And yet, the psalmist reminds us—God is mightier still. The sea cannot move one inch beyond the boundary He sets. Its power, though great, is borrowed power. Without God’s command, the ocean would lie still.
The same is true of human power. Nations may rise and boast. Leaders may command armies. Societies may roar with their ideologies, their wealth, their influence. But no matter how loud the voices of the world grow, they cannot overcome the will of God. His throne was established before the first wave ever crashed upon the shore. His reign cannot be overthrown.
When the news headlines are loud and the nations seem restless, remember the ocean. As powerful as it is, it is still subject to the voice of the Lord. So it is with the powers of this world—they move only by His allowance, and His purposes always stand.
When fear tempts you to believe the world is spinning out of control, stand firm in this truth:
The Lord reigns. He is mightier than all.
~~~~~
Father God and Mighty King, The ocean thunders, but You are mightier. The nations rage, but Your plans stand firm. Thank You that nothing can overturn Your reign or hinder Your purposes. Help me trust You when the world seems turbulent, knowing that You rule with perfect wisdom and eternal power.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
