Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
— Deuteronomy 7:9
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
— Numbers 23:19
This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, then my covenant with David my servant… can be broken.’
— Jeremiah 33:20-21
He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
— Hebrews 11:1

Attributes of God: Faithfulness
By Jennifer Kane
Oh, Faithfulness of God, so grand,
A truth that flows from who You are,
Not just a deed from Your wise hand,
But essence shining like a star.
Your word is always firm and clear,
No turning, twisting, or a lie,
You keep each promise, quell each fear,
Beneath Your never-changing eye.
You cannot lie, You cannot stray,
The covenant Your hand has sealed,
Will stand secure through every day,
Your steady love– forever revealed.
It humbles us, our faults so plain,
How often we forget and fall,
Yet lifts our hearts to sing again,
To worship You, the Lord of all.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:9, Numbers 23:19, Jeremiah 33:20-21, Hebrews 11:1
God’s faithfulness is not a fleeting action but an essential part of who He is. His faithfulness flows out of His immutability—the truth that He never changes. He is as steady as the sunrise, as dependable as the turning of seasons, and as constant as His eternal throne.
To say that God is faithful means that He is always true to His word, never wavering, never contradicting Himself. Unlike humans, who fail, falter, and forget, God’s promises rest on His holy and unchanging nature. He cannot lie, and He will never abandon the covenant He has made with His people.
God’s faithfulness is revealed in:
The Natural Order — Day and night, seasons and stars testify to His unbroken promises.
Providence — Every event unfolds under His sovereign hand, guided by His faithful purpose.
Discipline — Even His correction is an expression of faithfulness, shaping His children into holiness.
For believers, this truth is deeply practical. Because God is faithful, we can:
Trust His Promises — Salvation, sanctification, and the hope of eternal life are secure in Him.
Rest in His Providence — Even trials and sorrows are woven by His faithful hand for our ultimate good and His glory.
Pray with Confidence — Every prayer is heard, and every answer flows from His wise and faithful will.
God’s faithfulness is the anchor of our souls. It is not based on our ability to remain steadfast but on His perfect reliability. This truth humbles us—showing our weakness and unfaithfulness—yet it lifts our hearts to worship, because His steadfast love never fails.

Faithful Father, I praise You for Your steadfast love and unchanging nature. Thank You that every promise You make is sure, and every word You speak is true. In seasons of joy and in times of trial, help me rest in Your faithfulness. Teach me to trust You more deeply, to wait on You patiently, and to obey You faithfully. Guard me from doubt, strengthen me in hope, and let my life be a testimony to Your unwavering love. Great is Your faithfulness— yesterday, today, and forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
