And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.’
— Exodus 34:6
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
— Psalm 34:8
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.
— Nahum 1:7
I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.
— Isaiah 63:7
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
— John 10:11-14

Attributes of God: Goodness
By Jennifer Kane
The Lord is good in all His ways,
No darkness dwells in Him;
His mercy shines with endless rays,
His light will never dim.
His will is pure, His plans are right,
His love will never cease;
Through every trial, day or night,
He gives our hearts His peace.
From age to age His truth remains,
His faithfulness is sure;
The goodness of His hand sustains,
Forever strong and pure.
Oh, let the nations rise and sing,
His kindness has no end;
The Lord is good, our God, our King,
Our Savior and our Friend.

Scripture: Exodus 34:6, Psalm 34:8, Nahum 1:7, Isaiah 63:7, John 10:11-14
God is so good. At the heart of His glory is His goodness—a goodness that defines not only what He does, but who He is.
The fact that God is good means there is no darkness, no shadow of evil, no hidden malice in Him. His intentions and motivations are pure. He always acts with perfect wisdom and righteousness, and His plans always lead to good. His goodness is not distant—it is a shelter, a safe place where we can rest our weary hearts.
God’s goodness is not abstract; it shows up in His mercy, His provision, His patience, and His never-failing love. We need only to look back at our own lives to see the fingerprints of His kindness.
The goodness of God is not just benevolence—it is self-giving love. In Christ, God’s goodness is displayed most clearly, as He laid down His life to save us and continues to guide and protect us with tender care.
God’s goodness is unchanging. It is not dependent on circumstances, our performance, or the world’s shifting seasons. His goodness flows from His eternal character—constant, steady, and trustworthy.
So for now take time to write down three ways you have “tasted and seen” God’s goodness. Share at least one of them with a friend or loved one to encourage them.

Father, thank You that You are good, and that Your goodness never fails. Help me to trust Your heart when I cannot see Your hand. Teach me to rest in Your goodness, to proclaim it with my words, and to live in the light of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
