The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
— John 1:14
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
— John 6:63
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
— Mark 11:22-24
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
— Isaiah 55:11

Word of Life
By Jennifer Kane
He spoke, and light from darkness shone,
The stars awoke, creation’s song;
The Word went forth, the world was made,
By truth and grace His power displayed.
O Word of Life, still speak today,
Through hearts of faith, through lips that pray;
Let every breath Thy praise impart,
And write Thy truth upon my heart.
He spoke, and blinded eyes could see,
The captives heard, “Be loosed, be free!”
The storm grew still at His command,
The dead arose by His strong hand.
He spoke, and sin’s deep chain was torn,
The lost were found, the weary born;
Each promise shines, forever true,
The Word made flesh, our life made new.
So teach my tongue to speak in faith,
To guard my words, to walk in grace;
Till mountains move and hearts believe,
The life Thy living words conceive.

Scripture: John 1:14, John 6:63, Mark 11:22–24, Isaiah 55:11
When Jesus walked the earth, every word He spoke carried power—healing power, forgiving power, life-giving power. His words weren’t empty or careless; they were filled with the Spirit and truth.
He healed with a word: “Be healed!”
He forgave with a word: “Your sins are forgiven.”
He calmed the storm with a word: “Peace, be still.”
He even called the dead to rise: “Lazarus, come out!”
And when temptation came, He met it with the Word of God itself: “It is written…”
Jesus said in John 6:63, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” The same voice that created the world spoke life into broken bodies, troubled hearts, and weary souls.
That truth still stands today—words hold power. They can lift up or tear down, strengthen faith or feed fear. Scripture reminds us in Mark 11:22–24 that when we speak with faith, mountains move. What we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths shapes the world around us.
Isaiah 55:11 tells us that God’s Word never returns void—it accomplishes His purpose. When we speak His promises with faith, we are echoing the very heart of God. It’s not about empty repetition, but about aligning our voice with His truth.
So, when the news is bad, when doubt whispers, when fear tries to rise—let your response be the living Word of God. Speak faith instead of fear. Speak hope instead of despair. Speak life, just as Jesus did.
The words you speak can change the atmosphere of your heart and home. A life of faith begins with a tongue that agrees with God’s Word—and it leads to a life filled with His power and peace.
How can you begin to speak God’s promises more intentionally today? What situation in your life needs to hear His Word spoken in faith?
~~~~~
Lord Jesus, You are the Living Word, full of grace and truth. Teach me to speak as You did—words that heal, restore, and give life. Let my tongue be guided by faith, not fear; by love, not doubt. When I am tempted to speak negativity or worry, remind me to echo Your promises instead. May my words bring peace where there is chaos, and hope where there is despair. Fill my heart so completely with Your truth that what overflows from my lips reflects Your light. In every season, let me speak life. Amen.
