“Resh ר: A Righteous Revival”

Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law. Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees. Your compassion, Lord, is great; preserve my life according to your laws. Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes. I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word. See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love. All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.
—Psalms 119:153-160

Resh ר: A Righteous Revival
By Jennifer Kane

Look upon me, O Lord,
for the weight of this world presses in,
yet I have not forgotten Your word.

O Lord, let revival break forth!
Not in fleeting passions, not in empty cries,
but in hearts set ablaze by Your righteousness.
Let the faithful rise in boldness,
let the weary be renewed,
let the truth of Your word stand unshaken,
for it is eternal, it is sure,
and in it, we are made whole.

Your compassion, O Lord, is vast as the heavens,
a mercy unmeasured, a love unshaken.
Revive us!
Not by the strength of our hands,
nor by the wisdom of men,
but by Your living word,
by the breath that called forth light,
by the voice that still speaks to the broken.

Let justice rise like the morning sun,
defend the cause of the faithful,
redeem the weary souls who long for You.
For though wickedness spreads its roots,
salvation does not dwell in its shade—
it is found in the shelter of Your decrees.

Many stand against the righteous,
many mock, many plot, many press in,
but I will not turn, I will not stray,
for Your statutes are my foundation,
Your truth, my path,
Your love, my life.

Scripture: Psalms 119:153-160

Revival is not merely an emotional experience; it is a return to life through God’s Word. The psalmist, in the midst of affliction, does not turn away from God but instead pleads for revival. He understands that true renewal comes not from circumstances changing, but from God’s promises being fulfilled.

How do we respond when we are weary or discouraged? Some withdraw from God, allowing trouble to create distance. Others, like the psalmist, run to Him, knowing that revival is found in His truth. He does not ask for temporary relief but for a transformation rooted in God’s Word.

The psalmist also recognizes that revival is not earned but given by God’s lovingkindness (Psalm 119:159). He asks for new life, not based on his own merits, but because of God’s great mercy. This is a reminder that God delights in restoring His people—not because we deserve it, but because He is faithful.

Instead of allowing affliction to pull you away, let it drive you to God’s Word. Read and meditate on His promises. Not all spiritual movements are true revivals. Genuine revival will always align with Scripture, leading to repentance, renewed faith, and deeper obedience. Ask God to revive you, not because you have earned it, but because He is merciful and faithful.

~~~~~
Heavenly Father, I come before You weary and in need of revival. Consider my struggles and restore me according to Your Word. Help me to love Your precepts and seek You wholeheartedly. Revive me, not because I am worthy, but because of Your great mercy. Let my life be a reflection of Your truth and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
